The SSM 2044 VCF filter is a 4-Pole (24db/octave) transistor ladder low pass filter, that has been used in many classic and modern synthesizers.   It was originally developed by Dave Rossum's Solid State Micro (SSM) in the early 1980s. Below are some of the well known synths that have used the SSM 2044 or modern recreations of the circuit from Sound Semiconductors, Inc, the SSI 2144 and CoolAudio's V2044A.
